March 2006 Newsletter

Hi to you all.

Although it is not long since the last news letter we felt it was important to keep you up to date with events at the club. As some of you already know we have been the subject of mindless vandalism, with the result that three bosses have been burnt down in the bottom section of the wood. For the moment this means that there are no targets up in this section. The cost to the club is in the region of £300s worth of damage. In addition the bench and table have been destroyed. Our thanks go to the people who attended the last clout who spent time helping to carry the remaining bosses out of the wood, especially the members of Adwalton Club. Our thanks also go to other members including Paul Curotto who has done nightly patrols, and Dave and Les who have been helping to put up barbed wire fencing, and have put in at least 25 hours labour. The cost for the fencing ,which has yet to be completed, has been covered by the club, but we are grateful to Jim for his contribution.

In view of all this we are holding a working day on Saturday 8th April at 10:30. This will be to tidy up the course and make bosses to replace the bottom section, plus putting the bosses back up ( the little B’s will not stop us). Please make an effort to attend so that it is all set up again for the summer.

As the date of the next clout shoot clashes with the Scottish Champs, it has been suggested that we have a fun Wand Shoot on Saturday 22nd April at 10:30. No sights allowed.

Could I also ask if any of you hear of shoots that are not in the magazine, that members would be interested in, that you send me an e- mail so that I can forward details as we have a lot of very keen new members.

Just a reminder that the Middle Earth shoot is on May 7th 10:30 start.

Good luck to all of you who are going to the Scottish Champs, see you there.

Finally a little bird has told me that it will be Les’s 70th birthday on the 18th May. Good on ya Les.

Regards Mary
