July 2005 Newsletter

A warm hello to you all,

The summer has hit us with a vengeance and at last the hay has been cut, so on a steamy evening the long awaited, last newsletter for this club year can be penned. It contains several dates for your diary, PLEASE, note them.

Firstly a warm welcome to our new members, Dennis and Paul who you may meet at the club.

We also hope to see Lez up and about soon, following his successful hip operation. We have missed his friendly smiling face over the past months. See you soon Lez.

A big well done to our members who have represented our club at various shoots and have either achieved personal bests or gained placings in 3D and Scottish Champs, and bronze at the European Bowhunter Champs in Italy. It has been lovely to see you all out and about.

Thanks to those who have helped make bosses and keep the wood tidy. The next working day will be Sat 10th Sept at 10:30. May we remind you that attendance at a working day is a requirement of membership.

N.F.A.S membership is also a requirement and unfortunately some members have not phoned with confirmation of renewal if they did not join through the club.

Club membership renewal is due by the 1st October and remains at £22, £10 of which goes to Top Tox for ground rent. This represents good value compared with other clubs, and entitles you to unlimited access 365 days of the year, and use of equipment. This year we have bought new bosses, foam for bosses and covers, 3d's, club medals, and materials for new paths and bridges, as well as covering postage, web site, rent for storage shed etc. Members are welcome to look at the accounts on request.
Please make cheques out to Wyre Hall Field Archers and send to Mary Todd, 1 Chestnut Grove, Woodlesford, LS26 8WU.

If joining N.F.A.S through the club membership is due by 1st Jan and is £10. Please make cheques out to N.F.A.S

This may seem previous but I am trying to get all into this letter as time flies and fitting in all the paper work and accounting can be difficult at times, until I can retire ( oh please).

Thanks to Steve and Angela who have been bringing their club members for "Have a Go" sessions. We have had two groups so far with a third planned, which has contributed to club funds. You may also see them at future clouts.

Now the hay has been cut we hope to hold a clout shoot every 3rd Saturday in the month, starting 20th August at 11:00am. ( followed by 17th Sept, 15th Oct, 19th Nov, 17th Dec ). For those interested you are not allowed to enter a clout competition without some experience so this is a good opportunity to qualify.

Thanks to the artistic talents of Elsa, Gill and Derek, there will be a Dragon shoot on Sun 4th Sept, 10:30 start. Barbeque as usual.

The club Champs will be held on Sun 16th Oct, 10:00am start Including Poacher's Arrow and barbeque. If you have a trophy please could you return it before then. Thanks.
