Wyre Hall Field Archers was founded in September
1999. The aim of the club is to provide a field course
for archers in the Leeds area and encourage the development
of field archery inYorkshire. As a club we have a strong
competitive group, events such as the NFAS national, 3D
and Scottish Field Archery Association champs and IFAA
European Bowhunter Championship all had archers from Wyre
Hall competing, with medals being won in all events.
All of the members shoot in a traditional style, English longbow, American
flatbow, and Traditional hunting recurve are the preferred styles, the
club runs its own courses on instinctive shooting and
arrow making. All courses are
free to members, there is a small charge to non members.
The shooting ground is in woodland owned by Jim Routledge, who runs the
local archery shop, Toptox, as
an archery coach, Jim is often asked
for
advice, and tips on how to improve style and more importantly, the mental
approach to competitions.
All archery clubs in Yorkshire are welcome to use this
ground with prior arrangement thriugh the Wyre Hall website.
A member of Wyre Hall must be present while visitors are
shooting, a target fee of two pounds per head will be
charged.
